Herpetology is study of reptiles and amphibians

At Hill Herp, we actively participate in hobby level herpetological activities. These activities include field herpetology, reptile photography, and herpetoculture.

I guess you could say that field herping was my first involvement with reptiles and the stem of my interest in reptiles. As stated on my about page, my first ‘pet’ snake was a rough green snakes that my dad found in the yard while cutting grass. Me and my younger brother would spend a lot of time in the yard as kids searching for animals and playing games.

When I was in college, I started taking hikes in the woods as a stress relief and this quickly progressed into wildlife photography and field herping. I have continued with field herping and wildlife photography for the last 10 years.  Even with my busy life these days, I still manage to ride out ‘to the swamp’ every weekend to look for reptiles and other animals.

I will use this page as a reference page for posts in my blog related to herping trips that I take. If you are located in Southeast Louisiana and  want to chat field herping or you are looking for someone to go out in the field with, feel free to hit me up on my contact page. Thanks for the interest!
