Snake Photo Session Setup

I have been working on some website revision and wanted to get some fresh photos of my snake collection. The rock background looks good for kingsnake and milksnake photos so I picked up to flat sandstone slabs from the paver section of Home Depot for around 6 dollars. Great background. Inside I use two lamps to increase the light to an acceptable level, but outside I rely on sunlight. I think the outside pictures turn out the best. The best way to get the snake to sit still for a picture is to place a hide down on the surface and let the snake go inside the hide. After 30-45 seconds, get the camera ready then lift the hide. Snap pictures as quick as you can before the snake starts to move. Some will just sit still….others will bolt after one or two clicks of the camera.
